A Humpback Whale’s Tail

How it started

In the mid-90s, Buzzy founded The Environmental Art Association (EAA), a nonprofit dedicated to providing hands-on, environmental awareness for children and adults about marine mammals.

2014 Restoration

After a short stint at the Children’s Museum in Charlotte, NC, and spending some time in storage, the tail was transported back to Buzzy’s studio in 2014. The 2014 restoration refit the tails’ temporary exhibit base to become a permanent exhibit base for the Port Royal Sound Maritime Museum.

The tail is currently installed outside of the port royal sound maritime museum.

Today, the Humpback Whale’s Tail lives as a permanent exhibit outside the entrance of the Port Royal Sound Foundation Maritime Center. Watch a short video about the 2018 Maritime one-year anniversary.

The next photo gallery shows the base refitting process for the permanent installation of the tail at the Maritime Center.
